CAPTAIN'S LOG

Event: KATSUCON

LOCATION: National Harbor, MD

“Hey Vanache, do you want to come to Katsucon with me?” ~ says my kid brother on the phone at 6:32 am
“The hell is Katsucon?” ~ I say
“It’s an anime convention. I’m going there to meet my anime club from my school. It’s going to be all types of stuff there. Cosplay, videogames, and you get to buy all types of cool stuff like swords.” ~ he says ecstatically.

I’m not going to lie. I was 2 seconds away from turning my little brothers offer for a new adventure down, but then I realized a few things:

1. I had “Hitman Reborn” playing in seasonal succession on Hulu alllllllll night.
2. I have always been a fanster of anime and just cartoons period since forever.
3. When will I get the opportunity to be in the same company of others that share this interest?

and finally.

4. I wasn’t planning on doing a damn thing all day.

So….

“HELL THE FUCK YEA I’LL GO! See you in 30 minutes!” ~ I yell

The convention was held at the National Habor which borders Maryland and Virginia. I never knew this harbor existed and I must say that the view of the Woodrow Wilson bridge is awe inspiring. Sorry I didn’t take any pictures of that. I’ll be sure to make another visit just to take in the scene.

The Gayloard Hotel which housed the convention (if interested, it’s still going on! It ends tomorrow. Katsucon) is rather beautiful. It took us a while to really find the registration area, but the journey was definitely worth it. By the way, if your ever going to go to any convention of any kind; MAKE FUCKING SURE THAT YOU PRE-REGISTER!!!! I can’t stress that enough.

At first I wasn’t too impressed with the Cosplay. I kept bitching to my brother about how I bet Cali has better cosplayers, but that was because my ignorant ass didn’t know that the real deal players were on another level of the hotel (the convention made use of 3 floors of the Gaylord Hotel). Thats when I started to have some fun. For instance I thought that the player below dressed as one of the characters in Wii’s OKAMI game was top shit. *SNAP* SNAP*

I also found this neat Blue Exorcist poster. Can’t wait for the next season to come out. One thing about anime’s, you never know when they will just scrap a show right when shit was getting good. But hopefully that won’t be the case for these guys.

I actually don’t know who these girls are supposed to be and I actually didn’t care to ask. But the girl on the far right was cute and they all were extra nice. So why the hell not? (^_^) I made some new friends, I know that much.

How bad ass is my man with war armor. I swear all I needed was him role playing a dog fight with a Halo Master Chief or some kind of alien slug monster thing.

A great mention about these Anime conventions I noticed was that you get to pick up some of the coolest swag around. I mean .. I got my hands on a Bokken!!!!!!! (*_*) !!!!

I got a kick out of this Vampirella figurine. But it wasn’t a strong enough kick to get me to shell out $250.

In the end I’m so glad I went to Katsucon. I shared space with other geeks and nerds. People like me. (^_^) It was a great experience and I’ll definitely be at the next one. I might even go all out and dress up as Travis Touchdown from No More Heroes. Since I travel all over the place, catching one of these conventions in another town is more than tempting. I’ll have to check schedules and see what I’m going to cross paths with. This year I may have to take a trip out west to finally see what E3 2012 is like. Why the hell haven’t I tried this before? lol ..

oh well. better late than never. Right? (^_^)

As an artist I gain my inspiration from life’s joys and sorrows. Sorrows being the easiest to relate to because we live in a world that capitalizes off of another’s pain. So I’m not going to run down the list of what gives me sorrow. But as for life’s joys! I’ll gladly run down the gammat of what feeds my creative inferno. I’ve got food, travel, sex, Green Gardening, music, performing, acting like a fool and most importantly sharing space with friends. (^_^)

Thomas Jefferson once said, “friendship is precious, not only in the shade, but in the sunshine of life, and thanks to a benevolent arrangement the greater part of life is sunshine.”

So allow me to share some sunshine with you guys.

International Supermodel, TV Personality & Humanitarian … hm .. your lookin at the smartest model in the world folks. I wouldn’t say it if I didn’t believe it. (*-*) .. Immediately your drawn to her eyes and then your caught into the gravity of her lips. I think you could create all types of works of art just by allowing yourself to become lost in any one of these pictures below. I’ll share more of my muses as time goes on, so pay close attention to my posts in the coming future.
